Internationally renowned violinist, composer and two-time Grammy Award-winner Mads Tolling celebrates the music of the 1960s’ “Mad Men” era with his own distinctive style and innovative flair. The fun program is at once nostalgic as well as contemporary, including original arrangements of classic American songs from 1960's TV, film and radio. The repertoire ranges from “Mission Impossible,” “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Meet the Flintstones” to “Georgia on My Mind” and “A Taste of Honey.” Joining Mads on this journey are world-class musicians Colin Hogan and Dan Feiszli. Mads Tolling, a Danish classical violinist, discovered his passion for the 60s when his father gave him a Miles Davis cassette tape. Mads found a sense of intimacy and freedom in the 60s’ sounds of jazz, soul and early R&B, which inspired him to explore how to get there with his violin. The result is an exhilarating and thrilling musical adventure, with Mads guiding us to places we didn't know a violin could go. Colin Hogan was born in San Francisco to a musical family and was a member of the world-renowned Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble. He has performed with many legendary jazz musicians on five continents. Dan Feiszli is a bassist and recording engineer/producer. Experienced on both upright and electric basses, Dan plays many styles of music, ranging from jazz and Latin to pop and rock. He is featured on hundreds of recordings as both a bassist and recording engineer, and has recorded and mixed albums on the US Top 40 Jazz Radio Charts. Monthly Music at Noon concerts include a delicious hot buffet lunch before the concert.
